Reflect: Legacy of love or fear? 1 John 4:18 says there is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
I have lived in fear for most of my life and it is exhausting. While I grew up in church knowing that God loves me, I always felt a huge sense of fear that I did not know enough or that there was some hidden information that only the smart people got and I had missed out on because I had daydreamed off in the middle of the explanation. What a relief that salvation is not based on what I know but Who I know and if I want to believe in Him. I have nothing to be afraid of because my hope is in Him and not in me.
This is one of the reasons why I love the One project. It took the spotlight off me or the church or the whatever and put it directly on Jesus.
